EX-TOX II™

Fulvic (humic) acids are organic compounds found in the soil and sediments as a by-product of microbial activities, and are beneficial for digestion and improving energy because of their detoxifying abilities.  As a form of natural chelation therapy humic acids are capable of binding to and breaking down toxins and metals that enter the body through the food supply, water, prescription medications, household products and air pollution.‡

N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) and alpha lipoic acid are antioxidants that boost tissue glutathione levels and also play a role in binding heavy metals.‡

EDTA is a molecule called a chelating agent.  A chelating agent is a claw-like substance that can grab and stick to other molecules. Some types of EDTA stick to calcium, other types stick to metals, such as lead.  EDTA is sometimes prescribed by doctors to clean toxic metals, such as lead, from the blood.  Doctors have used the molecule for decades to treat heavy metal poisoning.  In those cases it is given through an IV.‡

Cilantro has been shown in some studies to bind to heavy metals to allow them to more easily be mobilized and removed from the body.‡

R-lipoic acid, the most active and stable form of alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like chemical called an antioxidant.  R-lipoic acid seems to help prevent certain kinds of cell damage in the body, and also restores vitamin levels such as vitamin E and vitamin C.  There is also evidence that alpha-lipoic acid can improve the function and conduction of neurons in diabetes.‡

R-lipoic acid seems to work as an antioxidant, which means that it might provide protection to the brain under conditions of damage or injury.  The antioxidant effects might also be helpful in certain liver diseases.‡
